Jazz? Oczywiście - to - na szczęście! - dyktatura kobiet! Że legendy jazzu, to wielcy muzycy, słynni wirtuozi? Ale i tak grali tak, jak one chciały. Zawsze pozwalały im ma kilka taktów, po czym niepodzielnie już królowały do końca piosenki. Czy jest w historii jazu tytuł wyższy nad "FIRST LADY IN JAZZ"? Że niby pierwsza perkusja, albo trąbka, albo kontrabas!? Ale przecież i tak każdy wie, że w jazzie nikt poza kobietami się nie liczy. Niekiedy żałuję, że nie jestem... wikingiem. Wtedy z wiernopoddańczą radością włączam tę płytę. Ogrzewam ją ciepłą myślą, niewymuszonym komplementem i czołobitną chwalbą, że ICH WYSOKOŚCI Swedish Songbirds - śpiewają dla mnie. Ich... wikinga. ...Something that has always fascinated me in jazz is just how many different feelings and moods the music can convey. This is not so strange when one realizes that jazz can be everything between heaven and earth. From bubbling euphoria to heartbreaking sorrow, from Duke Ellington to the Beatles, from Alice Babs to Sofia Pettersson. It’s all a matter of how the music is performed and by whom. Some people just have a feeling for jazz. In presenting this record it is my hope that you, the listener, will discover some of these many moods and feelings. A number of Sweden’s very best women jazz singers have been enlisted to help you. You can hear them in a whole range of songs from immortal standards to brand new gems – tradition and regeneration.
